Steps to Incorporated-Membership

First step

Establish that you have the right academic foundation. For Incorporated-Membership you'll need either:

  • An Institution accredited three year IEng degree eg BSc, BEng (ordinary)

  • A approved Higher National Diploma (You'll need to demonstrate a period of further learning, eg by completing the Incorporated-Membership exam.) 

  • A degree in structural and/or civil engineering recognised under an international agreement eg Sydney Accord, FEANI etc

  • or follow a Technical Report Route, to demonstrate you have gained equivalent knowledge through your work experience 

If you're unsure about your qualifications contact the membership team and we can arrange an academic assessment.

Second step

You'll need to demonstrate that you have satisfied the Initial Professional Development (IPD) requirements for Incorporated-Membership, completing an IPD Final Report Form for each of the Core Objectives.

Third step

Complete a portfolio of work to support your IPD forms.

Final step

Pass our Professional Review: The Incorporated-Membership exam and interview together form one of the most demanding assessments of knowledge and professional competence in the world.
